The Great North Run 2012

//posted by on Sep 17 2012

Yesterday we went to spectate the 32nd Great North Run.

There were 18 Pure Running Clients that were participating. All had gone through a thorough training regime over the past months. Some had met challenges along the way or had PBs they wanted to beat, so they sought support from Pure Running coaches.

Our day started nice and early for a Sunday,  heading towards South Shields on the train to hopefully miss the traffic jams on the roads. We realised standing on Newcastle metro station that the majority of people had the same idea as us. We were packing into the carriage like sardines, but as we got closer we began to feel the atmosphere develop. We were surrounded by a mixture of individuals some that were participating in the race for the first time, where as others it was there 8th attempt. Everybody seemed in good spirits.

As soon as we stepped off the train the heavens opened. This only seemed to add to the atmosphere more (even though I had forgotten my waterproof). We set up our Pure Running camp 500metres from the finish line and waited.

Over time the 1000s of people began to pass by. We managed to spot and give support to many of our Pure Running clients and the odd super hero. The atmosphere and encouragement was fantastic from the crowds.

All of our Pure Running clients completed the race and many goals were achieved. May it of been running without stopping the whole way round or breaking the two hour mark.

Everybody did fantastically well and there is already talk about the goals for next year.
